Built for the Eyre Peninsula

Wood-fired mobile sauna experiences inspired by the coastline, winter weather, and slower living of Coffin Bay and the Lower Eyre Peninsula.

Our Story

Salted Barrel was created from our own journey toward more intentional living.

After experiencing the benefits of sauna and cold exposure in our own lives, we saw an opportunity to bring something different to the Eyre Peninsula. Something simple, grounding, and connected to the environment we already call home.

Living here means being surrounded by wild coastlines, cold ocean air, long winters, and a strong connection to nature. We wanted to create an experience that complements that lifestyle rather than distracts from it.

Not a luxury spa.
Not a wellness trend.
Just a warm space beside the ocean to slow down, reset, and reconnect.

The Eyre Peninsula has always had a strong culture of ocean swimming, jetty jumping, winter dips, and outdoor living. Salted Barrel simply builds on that in a way that feels natural to this part of the world.

Wood-Fired. Ocean Side.

Built to Slow Down.

Our mobile barrel sauna is fully wood-fired and designed to travel throughout the Lower Eyre Peninsula.

Positioned beside the coastline, each session draws in the elements that make this region what it is. Salt air, ocean energy, cold water, winter weather, and open space.

Inside, the sauna stays intentionally simple:
heat, steam, timber, conversation, quiet, and the crackle of the fire.

Whether you come alone, with friends, or after a swim, the experience is about creating space to pause and reconnect with yourself, your environment, and the community around you.

Sauna and cold exposure have long been used across many cultures to support relaxation, recovery, routine, and overall wellbeing.

Why Sauna?

Everyone experiences sauna differently, and we encourage guests to listen to their bodies and ease into the experience at their own pace especially if it’s their first time.

If you'd like to learn more about sauna practices and wellbeing, we’ll continue sharing resources and information through our journal and social channels.

Back to Basics

Life on the Eyre Peninsula has a rhythm to it.

Winter storms roll through.

The towns quieten down.

People gather closer.

The ocean gets colder.

Salted Barrel was designed with that rhythm in mind.

We believe there is value in simple rituals:

  • warming up after a swim,

  • taking time away from screens,

  • being present with friends,

  • breathing in cold air,

  • slowing things down for an hour.

No pressure.

No performance.

Just space to reset.

Benefits Of Sauna

Sauna has long been used as a way to slow down, recover, and reconnect through heat, rest, and routine.

Many guests report feeling calmer, clearer, physically refreshed, and more grounded after sauna use. Emerging research also suggests regular sauna bathing may support circulation, relaxation, recovery, sleep quality, and overall wellbeing when used consistently as part of a healthy lifestyle.
Everyone experiences sauna differently, and sauna should never replace professional medical advice or treatment.
